Heart & Nature Inspired

Meet Cynthia

Welcome! I’m Cynthia, a California Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW 70063) offering nature informed therapy & coaching.

Nature shows us that we heal and thrive in connection. I offer outdoor and remote sessions that integrate nature into your healing process.

Whether we are walking or sitting together at the beach, a park or trail, or you are joining from the comfort of your own space, we collaborate with nature to help support regulation, reflection, and reconnection.

About me:

I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) first-generation holistic therapist that believes in the healing power of nature. I was born in the Fall of 1975 to immigrant parents from Durango, Mexico. I am a mother, sister, wife, MSW professor and entrepreneur. For over 15 years, I have had the privilege of serving individuals, families, communities, and organizations as a therapist, parenting coach, consultant, and clinical supervisor.

Through my work, we will create a space to slow down and build sustainable healing practices that are aligned with your values, lived experiences and goals.

Connecting with me is about authenticity & presence. It is about an imperfect practice of exploring your inner world at your own pace and reclaiming your inner wisdom. It is about gently nurturing your mind, body and soul. Returning to self, and moving towards living an authentic, joyful life.

My approach:

My approach is nature informed, person and relationship-centered, and nervous system (somatic) oriented.

An alternative to traditional talk therapy. My holistic approach integrates nature into the healing process. Numerous studies have shown that exposure to natural environments can reduce stress and promote feelings of calmness and relaxation. Nature can boost mood, reduce symptoms of anxiety and encourage a sense of present-moment awareness.

Collaboratively we explore your inner world, without judgment or labels. This depathologizing approach focuses on understanding experiences as opportunities for learning and growth, rather than deficits. Through somatic and mindfulness practices, we work together to focus on the body-mind-connection. This approach helps individuals heal from trauma, improve emotional regulation, and reduce stress.

Some of what I believe:

  • I believe humans are energetic beings that feel deeply. Many of us have been conditioned not to feel or to escape from our feelings.

  • I believe that as humans, we yearn for fulfilling relationships. We do not thrive in isolation; we thrive in relationship. We need community.

  • I believe we live in a world that moves at a fast pace, we must intentionally learn how to slow down to tend to our needs.

  • I believe all emotions are messengers & should be honored as such, including anger, rage, pain & grief.

  • I believe that as adults, we have the responsibility to heal - even if the wounding was not our fault.

  • I believe healing is not linear, it is not one-size-fits-all. It is lifelong.

  • I believe in the healing power of nature, her ancestral wisdom - always inviting us back to the present moment, to help strengthen us.

My teachers & education:

My work is informed by the teachings, expertise, and shared experiences of past and present teachers, as well as direct and self-guided learning from various educators, artists, and healers. These professionals actively work in the fields of trauma and attachment, mindfulness, somatic embodiment, nonviolent parenting, liberation psychology, and the practice of decolonization. My deepest gratitude to my children, who continue to serve as my greatest teachers.
